Purpose

To award someone at the Annual Founders’ Day Celebration in May of each year, who has given of themselves to the betterment of Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum (MKIM).  Award was first given to Bud and Nancy Thompson, the founders of the Museum, for their commitment to the preservation of Native American culture, history, and art.

 Committee Members

Committee members will be made up of prior recipients:

                                                Carolyn and Chris Bullock

 

Selection of candidates

Three months prior to the annual event the recommendations to be given to the committee members with a resume of accomplishments to the committee.   These recommendations can be made by prior recipients of this award, trustees, members, and employees. 

Two months prior to the event the committee will make the decision for the next Founders’ Day recipient and the plaque will be engraved with their name.

Qualities that make a good recipient are as follows:  Overall dedication to the Museum, Office/Gift Shop support, Committee support, grant writer, events volunteer/coordinator, financial support, educational programs support and workshop coordinators, etc.  These special people who have selflessly gone beyond to ensure the continued success of MKIM.

The committee will maintain a list of recommended candidates going forward for the following year(s) for consideration of this award.

All people with the above qualifications are considered as a recipient of this award including employees who have worked for the Museum in the past and also have the qualities as described in the above section of this procedure.
