Bittersweet Day at MKIM

  • 18 Highlawn Road Warner, NH 03278 USA (map)

Bittersweet Day at Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum! April 24th 9a-5p

INVASIVES!

Nitrogen fixing, Fruit bearing, Pollinator supporting, Nutritious, Medicinal, Ceremonially significant/Sacred.

Living organisms and the systems they comprise are evolving and changing. Our notions of native and nonindigeonous are based on perspectives limited in time and scope. When a new species is displacing other species, what can we do before a new dynamic equilibrium is achieved? Join us for a day of discussion, learning, and help releasing the hold bittersweet has taken over other plant species at Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum!

9am - Gather for a song and a discussion on "invasive" plants led by Mike Franklin

10am - Work on the bittersweet patches learning identification and removal strategies

12:30 - Potluck lunch!

1:30 - A presentation with Lynn on 'The uses of Autumn Olive 'Elaeagnus umbellata''

2:30-5p - Work on the bittersweet patches learning identification and removal strategies

Come and go as you like during the day. Bring work gloves, pruners, loppers, and be prepared for the presence of ticks!
